Konya–Antalya High-Speed Rail: 60 Minutes to Alanya

High-Speed Rail from Konya to Antalya: Regional Transformation Underway

One of Turkey’s major transport infrastructure projects is the high-speed rail line (YHT) planned between Konya and Antalya. Spanning approximately 607 kilometres, this project will connect not only these two major cities but also important regional hubs like Nevşehir, Kayseri, Aksaray, and Alanya.

Ground Survey Complete – Route Confirmed

Geotechnical studies for the Konya–Antalya section have been completed. With this milestone, the countdown to construction has begun. Construction work on the Antalya–Konya line is targeted to start in November 2024 and be finished by 2030.

Which Cities Does the Route Pass Through?

The new high-speed rail line covers the following cities.

  • Kayseri
  • Nevşehir
  • Aksaray
  • Konya
  • Antalya (Antalya City Centre, Manavgat and Alanya)

In Antalya, the line passes through Aksu, Serik and Manavgat; in Isparta through Sütçüler; in Konya through Emirgazi, Beyşehir, Seydişehir, Akören, Meram, Çumra, Karatay and Selçuklu; in Aksaray through Eskil and the city centre; in Nevşehir through Acıgöl, the city centre, Avanos and Ürgüp; and in Kayseri through İncesu and Kocasinan districts.

This creates a strong link between central Anatolia and the Mediterranean coast. As it approaches Antalya, the line splits into two branches: one reaching Antalya city centre and the other Alanya.

Travel Times Dramatically Cut

Once the high-speed rail line is complete:

  • Konya–Antalya: from 6 hours → 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Konya–Alanya: from 5 hours → 60 minutes
  • Kayseri–Antalya: approximately → 2 hours 45 minutes
  • Istanbul–Antalya: on average → 5.5 hours.

This means major benefits for tourism, commerce, and daily commuting across the region.

Economic and Legal Implications

When this project is complete:

  • Investment and tourism flows to the region will increase.
  • New legal needs will emerge, particularly in real estate and business law along the Antalya–Alanya corridor.
  • Demand for specialist legal counsel may grow in areas such as planning law, land acquisition, compensation claims, and contract disputes.
